Interested in Sharing Your Stagecraft With Us?
We are excited to be offering two amazing shows again this year. After receiving such great feedback this year we've learned that one of the most important things to our audience is great performances with a lot of diversity. So we are on the lookout for an amazing array of performers for our shows!!
We are looking for talented artists to create distinct and unique shows that encompass a wide range of styles and dancers. Our aim is to create the best shows possible. We do not require performers to be "professionals"; however, we are looking for performers with a high level of proficiency in their respective style. We embrace the entire spectrum of dance at the 3rd Coast Tribal Dance Festival and welcome every submission from Dark to Light, Fusion to Folkloric and Egyptian to Experimental with a Theatrical flair.
We give preference to our event participants, people travelling from out-of-state, truly gifted performers, and those that can follow instructions. All show participants must support the event by attending at least 7 hours of classes. With 80+ hours to choose from...that won't be difficult!
Our selection committee will review the dvd/youtube submissions and send out offers to those that we feel would best fit our vision. There are always more applicants than space available and lack of inclusion does not indicate lack of appreciation in any way, shape, or form.
For now, if you or your troupe are interested in performing in one of the 3C shows, check the appropriate box in eventbrite when you register for your classes. Then in August 2009, plan to submit a DVD/You Tube performance audition video. Please plan to submit a performance within the genre or style in which you would like to perform. We will begin to put the show line ups together in the fall, so you will have plenty of lead time before the show!

Do you need a ticket the night you are performing?
Let me tell you a story.....We ran into a problem last year when we sold out the Saturday night show. We had patrons who bought tickets left to stand (!) because performers were sitting and saving seats for other performers. We can't allow this to happen in the future.
So, to answer the question "Do you need a ticket the night you are performing?" As long as there are seats available we will save the back few rows of seats for the performers. If you want a guaranteed "seat" yes - please buy a ticket. If the show sells out, performers will respectfully be asked to stand in the back . So the answer is -you will certainly be able to see the show, but you won't be guaranteed a "seat" unless you buy a ticket.
We are performers, we are there to share our gifts with the audience, leaving them with a wonderful memorable experience. Getting to share those gifts with a packed house is just a bonus!
Got Skills? Would you like to write a review? Be a roving
photographer?
Every year a few folks offer to write reviews and take pictures for national and local publications alike. These reviews give you exposure in the dance community as well as informing folks about your experience at 3rd Coast. Volunteers should have verifiable writing or photography skills and have a responsible work ethic. If you want to write a review of the event we'd also ask that you take at least 3 classes to get the flavor of the event. We require these to be submitted to us before the end of February. Once we get your submission, we will talk to the photographer who has photos that will go with what you wrote about, match them up and get them out to be published! Anyone writing a review or taking photos will be compensated with VIP Comp show tickets and much gratitude.
